DHT is seemingly or atleast acts like a branch of the body's immune system in ways when it comes to balding. One of the remarkable functions that it does is to shut the mouth of the follicle. You will mainly hear that it attaches to the follicle and almost removes its circulation.
I agree, but I believe this is on purpose and an adaption per se from our body's immune system to rid itself of whatever alarmed it into fight mode. Many would agree that much of hair loss is auto immune or a reaction to an event - mostly infection or parasite. This I agree with partly. I believe that the pathogen ignites an immune response targeting the hosted follicles. However, instead of attacking the follicles and killing them directly, DHT cuts off the enemy's supply lines (dermal papilla) thus making their defeat much easier. Then the body kills off the pathogens or highly suppresses the rest.
