One of the biggest issues with balding is the change of appearance. Although many men and even women pull the buzzed look off beautifully, many of us don't. Even if we do, deep down the visual doesn't feel "right" to us no matter how much we try to accept it.
I think it feels like a forced downgrade or an involuntary downgrade to our appearance. I don't think you have to be a narc or overly self-centered to care about your appearance. Truthfully, hair like skin and features are important distinctions to our overall visual appeal. We are constantly inundated with perfect models of men and women with perfect contours, magnified with perfect clothes, and photoshop/filters to the hilt.
Are these things real? Is it reality? No, we can't control the fantasy or illusion of others, but what we can control is our bodies. Working out. Eating healthy. Meditation. Staying away from hard substances and alcohol. Being in therapy and controlling our experiences. All of these great habits lead to great results. 1 + 1 = 2.. This is why its hard to deal with hair loss. For many of us, there is a lack of control of the outcome. There is a lack of support. There is a lack of information in prevention. It just seems to be involuntary.
