There are 3 major or primary stages of sleep - The first three are considered non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep, also known as quiet sleep. The fourth is rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, also known as active sleep. This was from an article - 4 Stages of Sleep: NREM, REM, and the Sleep Cycle (verywellhealth.com)
I am starting to see hair loss or the inability of a follicle to produce hair or grow hair as a comatose semi-perm state of "deep sleep" of the follicle. You can call this the telogen stage. I am coming to believe that the telogen stage is just a form of rest that will only move to the next stage (non-comatose) when conditions are ideal or atleast OK. Therefore, to "cure" hair loss or reverse it - you are literally moving the follicles out of a deep sleep state.
The more severe, the sleepier.
