Stem Cells and Hair Loss

We hear about the anagen stage of terminal hairs and how it grows hair for 3-7 years before it falls out. We understand that the telogen stage or what I call the coma/resting stage is when a follicle is hair-less.

One of the aspects of hair loss that is not spoken about as much is how the follicle loses it stem cell activity, which further causes the aging/comatose activity of the scalp. While natural aging does cause the loss of stem cell activity, in male pattern balding or androgenetic alopecia, this stem cell activity is not only halted, but the exact opposite also happens where the scalp is being quarantined.

This understanding of the loss of stem cell activity has led to break throughs like, stem cell therapy, PRP, and various therapies having to deal with fresh blood to the area. In natural restoration, there are a few herbs that promote stem cell activity. These can be applied topically in order to deal with this loss.
